A Year of Learning Differently

It's been a year like no other. From a subtle pause to a global lockdown to a new normal life to wars and conflicts and injustice, 2022 has been a year of change and challenges for the world. But it's also been a year of learning, I'm sharing what I've learned in 2022 and how it's changed the way I now live and learn in 2023.

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in 2022 is that I can't control everything. I used to think that if I just tried hard enough, I could control the outcome of any situation. But 2022 has taught me that sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can't control what happens.

The second thing I learned was the importance of being flexible. I used to write routines, to-do lists and work during lunch breaks too. Did these help me grow? No. Structure is needed, discipline is needed; but flexibility is more important. This, I learned in 2022.

I've learned the importance of self-appreciation and care. This is so important, and I'm so grateful that 2022 has taught me that. I used to think that self-appreciation looked selfish, but I've learned in 2022 that it's actually essential. When we appreciate ourselves, we're better able to appreciate others.

In 2022, I've learned that I'm not alone anywhere. Be it failed job interviews, achievements in academics, or just a gut wrenching feeling of hopelessness; I am not alone. I am not alone in my low moments, and I will not be alone in the peak of success as well. This makes me confident and careful at the same time.

2022 was my learning year in the truest sense. I learned to take pause, I learned to measure progress, I learned to make progress. As I step into a new year of uncertainty, I hope it gives me lessons, good or bad. It will be the greatest year of my life, I hope.
